Top 10 Countries By High and Low Instagram Engagement in 2022

HypeAuditor has analyzed Instagram influencers worldwide and found out which influencers from what countries have the highest and the lowest engagement rate.

What is Engagement Rate?

What is engagement rate

Engagement rate is the percent of the audience who likes or comments on the posts (engages with the content).

Highly engaging content with many likes and comments often stands a better chance of organically appearing on an Instagram feed.

Top 10 countries with the highest engagement rate

  1. Finland – 5.51%

  2. Greece – 5.00%

  3. Croatia – 4.12%

  4. Japan – 4.07%

  5. Austria – 4.04%

  6. Germany – 3.91%

  7. Poland – 3.87%

  8. Hungary – 3.82%

  9. Belgium – 3.79%

  10. Latvia – 3.77%

A high engagement rate shows that users in these countries are more engaged in the influencer's content.

To get a better understanding of the engagement rate in these countries we broke down influencers into five main influencer tiers by the number of Instagram followers and compared the average engagement rate by tiers with the average Worldwide engagement rate.

Mega-influencers & Celebrities (over 1M followers)

They often have a very mixed audience with various topics of interest. Their relationships with them are more distant compared to other groups of influencers. They have the biggest reach but the lowest trust.

Macro-influencers (100K – 1M followers)

They are famous in a local community, you can think of them as a “mini-celebrity.” Their content is usually high-quality and is comprised of a certain passion or topic.

Micro (5K-20K followers) and Mid-tier influencers (20K-100K followers)

They have a more niche audience that is highly engaged with a deeper connection. Micro-influencers present in almost any sector: health and fitness, food, entrepreneurship, fashion, and beauty to name just a few prominent categories.

Nano-influencers (1K-5K followers)

They are regular consumers who are passionate and willing to share but have little influence.
